no matter what you feel about the war in Iraq, it is war here in the Grant household. this war is waged over a garden. who has the rights to it, the robins, or us? this is serious folks. on monday we went and bought cucumbers, pickles, squash, more basil. the garden was filled, and we were thrilled. tuesday morning we went off on our walk (by the way walking DOES NOT work to get babies out) by the time we got home the whole right side of the garden was gone. "they" got them. "they" decided that squash, pumpkins, tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, and pepper would be good for their nest in our neighbors grill. this is war. i am not going to say that we went to walmart that night and bought a BB gun, or that we put a scarecrow up, or as Becky likes to call it a scarerobin. we will see how these tactics work. we really need to ask ourselves "what would jack bauer do?". I feel like he would be really okay with what we are doing here.
on the baby front we really have no news. there is still no baby and yes we are walking, yes i have had spicy food. this girl is stubborn. i can't imagine where she gets this trait from. she will come when she is ready or when she is forced by the doctor. monday we go back and have a non stress test, and an ultrasound to check my fluids. i sound like a car. hopefully we will not make that appointment. we will let you know. the pink gerber daisy above is BellaRose's (Bella Rose's) gerber daisy from her Mimi (is that what we are going to call you mom).
here is the belly at 40 weeks and 3 days!

oh my goodness.... your bellyis so tiny...compared to mine. I know it doesnt feel tiny. I sm goin to guess that she comes on Friday the 18th...(cause Rylie was born on the 18th!!) and she is going to be 7 lbs 3 oz....
Ok I will go and actually read the blog now! So expect more posts! te hehe
Sunday that Scarerobin is very fashionable! I think that you are doing the right thing looking to Jack Baur for help. He is the hero we call when we need a Hero!
I am sorry, I know the only thing that worked for us was potocin! But it does help to pass the time...sorta.
Hang in there I remember these days all to well. I wish we could come over and help you pass the time! Just keep bb'n those birds!
I love the belly! Also, teach the dogs to get those birds!
BBBBEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLAAAAAAA!!!!! WWWWWWHHHEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEE RRRRRRRRR UUUUUUUUUU!!!!!
those dogs are worthless when it comes to those birds. now a rabbit, that is a whole other story.
ok, I completely thought the bottom picture was someone's butt bending over from the side. I don't know why but my eyes couldn't figure it out for a second...I mean I know I should have been expecting a belly, but anyways...your belly is cute...as is your butt I am sure...ha ha!
Sunday-
hang in there! girls are so stubborn - Lainy was 2 weeks late, and born on the 18th like Rylie Jayne. I'll wish that for you as well!
Jo (Kate's friend, and reader of your blog :)
i think she's coming tomorrow.
and, seriously, you have the most fit/beautiful belly in the universe. if i could get over my jealousy issues for a moment, i'd be very happy for you!
i started a garden and ended up digging/chopping into up the newly routed invisible fense. oopsie! think i'll be herb gardening in buckets instead.
I l-O-V-E the pictures!!!
Yay for the cute belly!
Now, to Bella Rose (please put your belly up to the 'puter screen so she can hear me):
Hey. What's up? It's yer mom's old friend, Katie. How ya doin' in there? It's almost summer in Black Mountain and I can tell you from experience that it's a FABULOUS place to be in the summer. Come on out! Come. On. OUT.
Sun: you obviously need to go to My Father's Pizza and have some garlic.
katie- i know she just kicked me so hopefully your encouragement helped. girl if the garlic on the margherita pizza that we made last night did not help nothing will!!!
Dear BellaRose,
I too am a baby, kinda. And when I come to Asheville to play, it would be nice if there was another baby around to play with. So, please, come out. From experience, I can assure you that it is MUCH better on the outside. And it will make your sweet mama so happy!
Love,
Gracen Elise
I think it would be funny if there was a way you could get a counter or something to check how many times a day I check your blog to see if she started yet! te he he.... Rylie says to make some tme go by figure out the videos so we can see videos of Bella Rose too!!!
well we don't have a video camera. we have talked about getting one, but have not decided. worth has gone back and forth on it. i am impartial at this point. i could change my mind though. i think that the camera will be my medium of choice. i am already thinking of all the images i want to take of here.
oh I bet!!!! That will be so fun. Do you guys have a digital camera? Most of them have the video option that is what we use. That is why it is fuzzy and wiggly sometimes!
we do have a digital, but it does not have a video feature. it is like my camera that was film, an SLR, where we can put lots of different lenses on it. my cell phone has a video :)
I'm so glad to see you've been keeping yourself busy with the garden, the robins, etc. etc.
That little belly cannot be stretched anymore Bella Rose. Come On.
Will is ready to meet his girl.
Ooooo I love guessing.
I say Tuesday in the am. 7lbs. 6oz.
Oh I want to guess... I'm thinking she's come on Sunday (obvious reasons...because of our little Domenica) And what is the poem? Sunday's child full of Grace..and it really will be Sunday's child...And I was born on a Sunday and so was Sunday.. oh this is just all coming together in my mind. I'm thinking 8lbs even. smyguess.
Your baby is beautiful...CONGRATULATIONS!
