shots

we went to the doctor yesterday for our 2 month check-up. BellaRose is pretty much over her cold! she did get her shots and she did fabulous. she had 3 shots and had to drink something. when she got the shots she turned bright red, held her breath and let out one big scream. after that she was over it. what a champ. she is in the 70th percentile on height and weight. she weighs 11lbs 5 1/2 ozs. her height is 23 inches, and her head is 15 1/2 inches. we did have a great milestone yesterday in that she took her first full nap in her crip. she cried, and i let her, and after about 10 minutes she crashed! she sleeps in her crip at night and as been pretty much since the beginning, but i am such a sap during the day. i just love holding her so much. i never thought i could love a baby this much.

you want to know what BellaRose loves, her baby einstein play gym. i put her there one day and was amazed at how much she loves it. she just flaps her arms and legs, and coos and smiles. who knew a star that lights up and makes silly noises would be so entertaining. i guess the people at baby einstein!

and this was how i was able to take a shower the other day. the door she is in front of is my bathroom. i put her in the swing and she was awake, and when i got out she was asleep. i am sure it is unorthodox to let her sleep in the swing and all the books will get mad at me, but they aren't home with me trying to bathe now are they? and allow me to get on my soapbox for one moment....books. i love them, we all know i do, but i had to put the baby books down. they completely stressed me out and i believe made the 1st couple of weeks even harder then they needed to be! new moms revolt. i declare a "put the books down" protest. who is with me i yell!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeahhh on sleeping in the crib. I was a sap too but dont worry she will get it. Rylie will only sleep in her crib now so I am a strong believer it doesnt matter that much at first.

Also yeahhh on the baby eintstein, go get Baby Mozart, I am serious... I was a strong believer in the no TV thing but this is different and they LOVE it.... I promise.

Good job with your shots BellaRose, I loved watching her in that play gym that was so cool I even immitated it for Jeremiah later, probably not as cute as BellaRose.

I agree on putting the books down. THey are good guides but nothing more. I stressed my self out to with them and even now with rylie easting. They say she should be drinking 32 ozs...she doesnt...shes not starving...and I wont force it down her throat. My doc was good at saying not to worry and just follow her lead. I think its also just being a new mom. We just want to do what is best and think we dont really know what to do, turns out we do!

If you shut up I will show you I will immitate it right now! Say I won't!

bella rose is brilliant so she understands all the things einstein is about.
Way to go mom on making it through the cold and the shots.
I'm all on board for the revolt against the baby books, at least until about 3 or 4 months. They almost ruined me several times myself.
But, I will stand by my love for "healthy sleep, happy child".

i agree with annie on the healthy sleep, happy child. it's the only post-baby book that i've read. okay, not true. also, the womanly art of breastfeeding put out by la leche league. it's a good one. but the other stuff, just ignore it. they all disagree with each other anyway!!

and i was VERY anti-TV, but the baby einstein is different. it's a good way to increase her visual and sound awareness without you having to be the sole "teacher." you need your time too, and it's a good way to catch 15 minutes!

i'm afraid to say, i have also introduced some public programming into gracie's life. she loves cliffard the big red dog and barney songs. seriously, barney!!!! what to do?!!?!?!

oh no...Barney....

I liked that book to. I refer to it some still. It just made me aware of her needing sleep.

Poor BellaRose. shots stink....I'm with Jessica on the Baby Einstein...I know, I know. I'm not a mom yet, but I've kept a lot of kids and I LOVE baby einsteins. Baby Mozart is wonderful, as is Baby Van Gogh and any of the art ones. I don't know what the books say about it....I'm all ears for books that sound good. Sunday, thanks to Becky's recommendation, I devoured "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." It has changed my life! I know so much stuff! woohoo!

How funny... Andy has the same play mat! We joked that the blinking star was his girlfriend- he loved it so much. He is pretty much over the mat now and on to the exersaucer. Fun times! BellaRose is so beautiful, looks like y'all are doing a great job of making her happy :) Missy

No.. I don't have a baby.. but I see nothing wrong with BellaRose sleeping in a swing.. and not only when you shower.. but when you need to do something else... I mean if she is swinging and then falls asleep then that's okay too. I'm glad she napped in the crib.. that's good too! You have been so blessed with a child who sleeps! And Baby Mozart etc are great... at least when I've babysat babies.. also Praise Baby is good too.. it's similar but to Chrstian praise music.
