When you see a cornfield do you ever just want to run through it, like in the movies? Do you ever wonder if you would get a paper cut on your eyeball if you did run through a cornfield? I often wonder about that, but boy oh boy what I would do to run through a cornfield. You wouldn't exactly say we have a cornfield, but I do have a couple of rows of silver queen corn and we just may have to have a harvest party when it is time for picking. BellaRose's sunflower house is doing well too and I really can't wait to see this project through to fruition. Worth and I had heaven in our mouth the other day. We shared one red cherry tomato and it was all warm from the sun and just made us so excited for more! I keep begging Worth to let us cut that big green tomato for fried green tomatoes but he is REALLY wanting that for a tomato sandwich when it turns red, so I will grant the boy that one wish! The pumpkins are thriving as well and I am really holding out for a 300 pounder. Keep your fingers crossed!
As I mentioned the other day, it was Margaret's birthday this past week so I made vanilla cupcakes with pink cream cheese frosting and chocolate butterflies. I must give credit where credit is due and tell you that I stole the idea from Cortney, as she made these cupcakes the other day. Also Newell was in town and helped me make the chocolate butterflies. So thank you both, ladies! The butterflies are so much fun to make, it is like you are coloring, but with chocolate. Also the cupcakes actually made the trip down to the lake and sat on the dock ALL day. The butterflies did melt a little, but they actually almost tasted better that way. So cute, right?!
Here is a cell phone picture of a shark that Worth caught while were at the beach. He is holding the shark upside down so it would be more docile, but doesn't it look so ominous? And did I tell you I caught a shark too, sort off. Kevin had cast out and asked me to hold the fishing pole while he was getting another one ready. After awhile he told me to real it in and I started to and I thought that I felt a tug, but then thought it was the current pulling the weight, well sure enough it was another shark! Worth's was about 3 1/2 feet and mine was a little smaller. This only made Worth and Kevin more excited, they ended up staying out there until 11 at night. They waded out in the water up to there chest and decided that might not be a good idea since they were catching sharks and all. Good Idea, ya think!
So being one who never backs down from a challenge (could be why I destroyed my precious 4runner in a pond, but that is another story for another time) I am going to make bagels! Niki made bagels the other day, which I am so impressed by, and I have always been a little scared to make bagels, but Niki said it wasn't bad so I am going to try it as well. I guess I am into copying people and the food they make. Let me also mention that I was never actually challenged by Niki, I guess it is just my competitive nature!
See you soon and hopefully I will be serving you some bagels, or something!

The splashing in it, not so bad. The brushing the teeth...sorry I think I just threw up a little in my mouth!
wait- you made the butterflies??? How????? am I sooo impressed. I laughed out loud when I thought about her putting your old toothbrush in her mouth- did you just die???? That's too funny, but she must be a smartie since she wanted to brush her teeth all by herself :-) I needed a good laugh today and that did it for me so thank you Bella Rose for playing in teetee water :-)
i think that she is brillant too! yeah i figure she drank a lot more of my fluids when i was pregnant with her. hey ghandi drank his pee right. at least she is in good company.
yeah i made the butterflies. aren't they cool. you need to get the cookbook, "whimsical bakehouse". all that stuff is in there.
Ok... the sunflower house sign? Perfection.
We brush our teeth in the toilet, too. I don't understand it, but it makes her a happy girl. And when it's REALLY quiet in the house, I know where to find her.
Oh my gosh!!! I am laughing so hard!!! I once heard that the pilgrims brushed their teeth with urine. I also saw on the Method website that their version of the swiffer pads are compostable.
P.S....I've been making bagels for years :-)
I ALSO know where to find the kid if its too quite. Although these days she has taken to getting her stool and trying to actually use the sink to brush her teeth...phew
Its so sweet how they pick up things and model their mama's. Rylie just this morning helped me vacuum. LOVE it!
If you can make THOSE butterflies you can make a bagel!
You inspire me!! I must start baking fun things---once Travis gets home from his trip, so I don't eat them all before then!! :)
And the toothbrush, hilarious!
YAY your butterflies look perfect!!!! I am so excited, you did a fantastic job, seriously!! And it totally wasn't that hard at all, right? ;) I am so so so glad you shared that pee tooth brushing story--I am starting to get anxious about all the family planning we've been doing lately, and I *NEED* stories like this to remind me that when a baby does drink pee, no one will die or come take her from me. Also, I cannot WAIT to hear how Bagel making goes, I think I would like to try it too but have been too intimidated just to jump in without having anyone around who h as also tried it!
WHAT!!!! Cortney you are really doing "family planning"! OMG this is so exciting. okay first of all you will be amazing. You and katie have to be 2 of the craftiest people I know, and JT of course! yeah for you.
and before bathtime I caught Rylie splashing in the toilet.....thought of you!
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! I cannot stop laughing!! I actually CRIED (real tears!!) reading the story about BellaRose and the toilet--and just when I calmed down from all of that, you had to go and say that she snatched a bee right out of the air and it set me off again! I read it to Andy and we just died laughing--Aren't you sooo glad you have people in your life who will laugh at you during the most horrific times? Ha ha ha! I know I would have been completely freaked out?!
Beautiful cupcakes, BTW--You should post the recipe! (Oh and I'mm adding your blog to my link list, if you don't mind!)
i hope i can remember the thoughts that kept popping up as i read (and laughed out loud)-1. yes i have thought about stopping the car and running through a cornfield, but to be concerned over the possibility of a papercut on the eyeball has never crossed my mind...i'm sure now it will every time. 2. tell worth i'm with him on the tomato sandwich (and the best is when one slice fits the whole piece of bread, and 3. i may have at one time been aware of the 4 runner and the pond (sounds like the title of a children's book) story, but perhaps you should tell it b/c if i ever knew it i have forgotten and now am curious...great post.
Oh my word, that is so funny! Jaden is the same exact way, always in the toilet(and he's so stinkin' quick) if the other 2 boys don't shut the door after they go...oh my. oh my...I've heard many say that if you are ever stranded and have nothing to drink, drink it so it must not be terribly bad for ya! hee hee
Hey, did you get that picture I sent?

Yes, yes, we are "planning", if by planning we mean lots of talking and getting freaked out ;) No actual, um, "doing" yet, I'm still popping the little white pills with my folic acid, but lots of talking...
cortney talking is very good! Jennifer of course add my blog to your links. Heather I did get the picture and sent an e-mail back. thank you so much!
ok, I forgot to comment on the cornfield until I read vern's comment- now my right eye itches and I don't have any drops- ahhhhh! I can totally see how you would think an ear of corn could cut your eye- now I'm nervous about it...at least it takes my mind off being nervous about delivering the baby :-)
What a week for BellaRose!! I didn't know about the toilet adventure. Gross! I don't even want to think about all the stuff I probably put in my mouth as a baby.
And those cupcakes look amazing! You've come so far from spreading icing at Michaels.
Let me know how those bagels turn out. I'm sure they won't be as good as Rachel's but apparently she's a pro so don't feel bad about that.
By the way, what's up with the cupcakes you little b#@*$y betty crocker?!
jeez annie don't get so mad! :)
You know I can write that because I love you so much...and I'm just jealous! =)
OH MY GOSH! That is so funny/gross/funny...I don't know how I would react in that situation, pretty impressive that she can catch a bee
I think I am seeing a pattern here all this activity from BellaRose could only be one thing---
She is definitely training to be a ninja!
