aahh Boo!

An elephant in a tutu!  Of Course!  Does anyone know of a cartoon or children's book where and elephant wears a tutu?  I know I have seen it somewhere but I could be thinking of "Angelina  Ballerina" but that is a mouse.   Becky and Annie thought of a hippo that wears a tutu in Fantasia, but I know I have seen an elephant somewhere.  So think about it and let me know!
Happy Halloween, or fall festival whatever you choose!

The thrill of the hunt

Oh well!  I was going to show you some wonderful fall snowy pictures from the other morning but when I went to go look for my camera it turned up missing!  Can that really happen, something turning up and it being missing all at the same time?  Now there is some food for thought, or I could just have the phrase wrong.  The bottom line the camera is gone, and I fear it is with my husband who has gone out hunting.  The weather turned cool and he could no longer sit around and work he had to go into the woods.  This only proves his point that we are all like animals when the weather changes.  Although he is not like a deer who is out in the woods to find a lady, at least he better not be!  No he likes to catch those deer off guard when their attention is on "other matters" if you know what I mean.  Now initially I had no intentions of posting about hunting, but look here, got yourself a little hunting lesson!  There will be no pictures of deer, as Worth had no luck acquiring a deer this go round.  Better luck next time my dear husband!

Finale to Rocktober!

The house is clean except for a stray "30" confetti here and there.  The pictures are all uploaded, the guest have all gone home, all
signals of Rocktober's conclusion.  I know we have another week of this glorious month and admittedly Halloween is one of my favorites, but in so far as birthday Rocktober is concerned the finale was on Saturday!  Boy o' Boy what a party!  Sadly there are no group pictures but the house was filled with family and friends and the food was outstanding and all gone I might add.  No leftovers for the Grant household.  Thank you so much to my mom, my sisters Angela and Kelly, my husband Worth, and my dearest friend Annie for  a fabulous 30th birthday
 celebration.  Thank you!

Look how beautiful the house looks!  They put pictures of me growing up on the butcher paper hanging from the blinds.  Also check out that lamp on the right.  That is my present from my mom.  It is so unique and beautiful.  I also had my favorite, a Cookies and Cream ice cream cake.
Blairis only slightly jealous of my ice cream cake.  You will get your cake in due time my young friend!

Pumpkin Carving Contest

We went to one of my favorite events of the year on Saturday, Matt and Margaret's annual pumpkin carving contest.  Sadly we did not win, and have yet to win, but we still had fun.  We are going to brainstorm all year long on how we are going to carve our pumpkin for next year.  You guys aren't going to have anything on else.  We did get honorable mention which pretty much means "you did not win", but it is really fourth place.  I am not a sore loser, I promise (yeah right).

Worth and Jennifer Young were playing foose ball with the babies and it was quite the sight.  You should have heard Jennifer's little boy, Davis, laugh.  It was the laugh where you can only let out a little a bit of a honk because you are laughing so hard.  It gave Worth and Jennifer quite the workout!

Margaret, the hostess, being all cute and preggars.  They get to find out what they are having soon!  I can hardly wait to hear what Baby Lowrance will be.  I already love her/him!  Don't you just want to eat Davis up.  Look at those curls.

Well this is likely my last post as being a twenty something.  I am leaving a decade behind.  Boy I have done a lot of things this past decade, maybe soon I will share 20 things I accomplished in my twenties.  Now won't that be fun for all of us.

The Great Outdoors

Headed to Boone on Sunday to hike up Snake Mountain in Meat Camp (yes this is really the town's name).  Worth has been wanting to hike up this mountain in all the time I have known him, we decided Sunday would be the day.  Ben, Worth's cousin, and his girlfriend, Nicole came along.  This hike did not disappoint.  The weather was insane with how perfect it was.  I took 176 pictures.  It was near impossible to only pick 12 to post today.  BellaRose did amazing.  She only slept for about 20 minutes and that was on Worth's back in a very crooked backpack!  We, of course, had to hit up some Boone Bagelry while we were there.  This is one of our favorite places.  Who knew that a toasted blueberry bagel and a scrambled egg could taste so good.  I will leave you with the pictures.  This is really where the saying "A picture is worth a thousand words" really is true.  If you want to see more I have an album up on facebook and will be making a kodak gallery album soon.  enjoy!

Thoughts

The dirty Thirty Birthday is quickly approaching for me, and people continue to ask me how I feel about this.  For starters there is nothing that I can do about this as I have not been able to do anything about the age I am turning ever and secondly I just love birthdays way too much to be worried about the age.  That all being said there are times when I realize that I have been out of college for 7 years already and that my home of Atlanta has become a far distant past.  I have not lived there in 11 years!  Where has this time gone, where have those days of no responsibility gone?  Time has quickly flown by, but that is all okay because if I worry about the past and where it has gone then I miss the present and the wonderful age that BellaRose is right now, and the great place we live, and I miss out on the adventures and moments of my little family of three.  I still feel like I am in college and maybe it is because we still hang out with all our college buddies.   And isn't 30 the new 20 or whatever "they" are saying now, anyway?  So I will embrace these last few days of being in my 20's and look forward to my 30's and maybe wear just a little more sunscreen and use undereye cream at night.

I was a little hesitant to put this bed on the blog.  I have not shown Worth yet, he knows about it, but I wanted to show him the finished product before I showed him the "before picture".  But ladies and gentlemen this is BellaRose's future Big Girl bed.  I had asked Annie for help in finding a bed for BellaRose, one that looks similar to her crib that I adore and one that was rod iron.  I have, of course, found a bed on Land of Nod and Pottery Barn for a small fortune.  I knew Annie would be just the person for me because she is a digger and finder of treasures where I am just a finder of garbage and useless items.  I need things to be beautifully laid out for me where Annie can find the beauty in something buried behind old rusty windows and the likes.  She found this wonderful bed for me and gave me the vision that I need.  This bed will be sand blasted, then bronzed, then painted white, and finally antiqued.  This is a bed made for BellaRose (and in the 1800's to boot).  As Annie says, it is precious, and it really is!

Local Plug~ Growing Young Cafe, this little Kid Friendly Coffee Shop is owned by my friend Tonya.  She has put so much love and passion into this wonderful little place and the word must get out so it will succeed!  Please go visit her, even if you just want stop in and check it out and perhaps buy a coffee and a sweet treat.  BellaRose and I went there yesterday and had a wonderful time.  I got to drink my coffee while BellaRose played with all the toys that are washed daily!  Tonya also told me about a very useful website for us Mommas that live here, it is called Kid Friendly Asheville and will now be a link on my blog.

Well I do believe this is enough for today, there will be many more fun filled post to come, because as we know this is a rocking month with loads to do!

Sweet Sweetness

I was just putting the pictures up here on the blog and I noticed that the text I have chosen is called Georgia.  How appropriate since I was just there visiting my dad!  We got some really good quality time with Poppy, just want BellaRose needed.  Now Poppy is a very BIG Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and is feeling that BellaRose needs to show some team spirit and BellaRose was feeling like she was not so sure!  Thank you so much for a wonderful fast weekend in the ATL!
Sweet Girl is finally able to wear her designer jeans OG got her in Italy a couple of years ago.  They have to be rolled at the top, but they are still SO cute!  Those Italians must have enormous babies b/c the jeans say they are 9 months, but I have never seen a 9 month baby like that!

We would also like to say a big congratulations to the Carr family and the arrival of sweet baby Wyatt!  We are so excited for you!  See I have been telling ya'll October is a radical month and Wyatt just confirms it for us all!
I also need some help from you mommas out there, what snacks do you feed your babies.  We are in a goldfish rut around here and since I end up eating most of her snacks I want something different!!  Annie is usually my go to snack girl and still is, but I am brain dead at the grocery store.  I can't think of a thing besides goldfish!  Help!
I feel like I had a lot more to talk to you guys about and now that I am here blogging I have forgotten everything.  Oh well, such is the life of a mom I guess.  I am sure I will remember and then come back and tell you.  I hope you have a wonderful fall day!

It is finished.

I finished my 1st scarf!  I am so proud.  It is not going to win any knitting awards, and I could not really figure out what to do with the loose ends, so they are woven in and tied in knots, and I am pretty sure I added the extra yarn wrong, but it is big, and it is warm, and it is cozy, and I LOVE IT!  I think that one of the benefits of using chunky yarn is that it hides your mistakes, that is a very good thing for me.  I still really don't have much of a desire to make anything else but a scarf, but I really want to get more yarn now and make the scarf I set out to make in the first place.  Wish me luck, it calls for 2 different yarns being used at the same time!

Sweet Girl is having a time right now as her canine teeth are coming in.  She was a little grumpy on Sunday and we could not figure it out and then I look in her mouth yesterday and there is the little white bud in her mouth.  AHA!  Oh the joys of teething.  She is pretty much going to be teething the rest of her life it seems!  She still remains such a precious child though.  She seems to be more and more like me lately as well.  She loves cozy things and anytime there is something soft she has to lay on it and pet it and talk to it like a dog.  It is actually one of the sweeter things I have ever seen and a bit funny!  Oh and by the way, don't you just LOVE those pants.  My mom got her this whole outfit, but the bodysuit is on back order so we are using a different top right now.  I will most pictures once the whole outfit is complete, but I just love the pants.  They are from Chasing Fireflies, a real cute children's website.

Do you feel it?  Do you hear it?  It is Rocktober 1st!  The best month of the year.  The breeze is blowing, the air is crisp, the leaves are rustling.  It is here, FALL is here!  To celebrate I made No Bake Cashew Brittle Bars that are oh so good, and oh so easy.  No hard boiling eggs there!  All these pumpkins on our front stoop are from our garden (at least all the ways that did not rot by now).  I still need to get one real big dude, and then my little pumpkin batch will be complete!
