It won't be like this for long

Some days being a parent is just hard. Having your toddler pee in her pants in Target soaking the floor and the cart, and having to tell the Target employees who are pretty much teenage boys that there needs to be a clean up on aisle G4, and then having to buy emergency panties and slip them on in the middle of aisle all the while having your 6 month baby strapped to you in a bjourn, is just hard. There are no 2 ways about it. It is humorous but in the midst of it, it is hard. Yes I should have listened to BellaRose when she told me she needed to go potty, but I just wanted to finish the already harried trip. Next time I will know to listen to her or else I will have to pull over on terribly busy highway as 18 wheelers come flying at me with no regard to me or my Rosey who has to pee right then. The adventers of potty training are not for the weak. It is funny that right after that experience in Target yesterday I saw all of these pregnant women just patting their bellies, shopping by themselves, daydreaming of what it will be like to have a baby as they look at me all frazzled thinking their children won't be like that. Little do they know, really little did I know! I write all of this coming from a place of very little sleep. Hollings has been doing awesome, sleeping through the night, of course we expect every night to have to wake up not really wanting to make the big announcement that she sleeps through the night. Last night proved us right as both girls took turns crying. It was one of those nights that you don't trust the silence, so you stay awake waiting to hear the cry that is sure to come. We got sleep somewhere in between 1 am and 6, not sure when but it happened. Poor Worth has to face another day of doing math and fighting building suppliers for his materials on 4 hours of sleep. Bless that man! At least it will be in the 70's today.
And all these tails of woe lead me to a song that has been heavy on my heart and has brought me to tears. Take a LISTEN. This song has actually held me accountable lately because the lyrics are SO true. These stories will make for good rehearsal dinner material when these precious girls find their beloveds, and in the mean time I will try my hardest to embrace having my gorgeous purse peed on and not being able to take a shower for days on end, because it is all worth it isn't. Those giggles, those smiles, those cries for momma.

oh my goodness Sunday.. I can only imagine what happen at Target. But I know, it could happen to any of you. You may not be laughing at it now, but one day you will.

Love all the pictures of the girls, they are growing so quickly. I can't believe Hollings is sleeping through the night so well. You are very blessed, even with a little pee.

It is all worth it! = )

Oh, yes, Darling. I hear you!!!

We had, um, 5 #2 accidents in a matter of 30 minutes at a friend's pool this summer. It was humiliating. And, awesome.

Hollings is turning into her own little girl! I see only her now, not a mini version of BR!

PS: I finally ordered a sleep sack from your friend over at Lone Pine... so excited. It was on sale and brown corduroy. Obviously calling my name.

Oh man, don't trust the silence, last night all the way. And we only have one culprit in our household, can't imagine feeling that way with two.
you are better than me I left a cart full of pee at tjmaxx, I consider it payback for not having a changing station in their bathroom!
Love the song makes me want to hug my family for a couple hours
That picture of Hollings in the jeans and hat is wonderfulness!

Oh Sunday, I love you so much! You are such a great mama and I love that you speak the truth. It IS hard sometimes and it is so good for us other mom's to hear it. And oh man, that song, tugs at your heartstrings for sure!!

That song makes me want to stop time.
It sounds mean but I really wish I could have seen you in Target talking to the teenage boys. I'm pretty sure I can imagine the look on your face.
Those pictures are incredible. They should be in the rehearsal dinner slideshow.

Oh girl!! What a day AND night!! I find that now that I'm a Mama - I'm way less judgemental of other Mama's. In theory at trip to Target should be no problem. In reality.....oh, reality - that's a whole different story! -- Hugs!

I love this refreshingly candid image of motherhood...soooo true. "Mama said there'd be days like this" I remember the days of ignorant bliss patting my belly, and the days of not knowing if I will cry or slap someone, and the great moments (which you capture so well with your lens) where you wonder how and when life got so sweet. Thanks for sharing!!!!

I loved this post. As we're wrapping our minds around having two 18 months apart, I turned to Adam and said "this is much harder than I ever thought!" I can't even remember what it was like rubbing my belly ALONE. Now I'm positioning a very active boy on top of it! =) I love you girl, keep doing your thing -- you're great at it!

Oh how I needed to read this post, Dom! We are in our first week of potty training & had our first public accident last night. While we did get through it with laughter and he has really been doing great with it, I have to remind myself that these are cherished memories. Even if they are a nightmare at the time! :)
I am so thankful for my fellow mommies & our stories!
Love the pictures of the girls too--they really are growing up too fast. That song makes me cry EVERY time!

Such a good song and good reminder...

girls are harder than boys with potty training because you actually have to find the bathroom. Almost daily you might see my minivan over to the side of the parking lot and one of the boys emerging from the bushes.
