8 months

ok, ok, ok.......I know I always put up a million pictures of BellaRose, but how could I not? Look at this little baby. I just can't help myself. Sweet Baby turned 8 months old yesterday. I don't know how much she weighs or what her length is. All I can tell you is we weighed her a couple of weeks ago at the Tabacco Barn on this old antique scale and she weighed a whopping 15.1 lbs. My little bean!!! BellaRose and I had a photo shoot this morning because I realized we don't have any pictures together, mostly b/c I would much rather take the pictures. So here are a couple, there are some pretty funny ones, maybe I will put those up later. Not much to report, we are all healthy, Fianlly! Worth has work, his hand is much better, life is good. There is one thing on my mind right now as I sit and write this to you, and that is our sweet girls name. I just don't know how to convince people to call her BellaRose and not just Bella. Now if you call her Bella, I am not pointing you out and I am sure we have individually had discussions about this matter, but what about when I am introducing her to people? They ask me her name, I tell them BellaRose, and they say "oohh Bella, how sweet". I hate saying "this is BellaRose, one word". That just sounds silly. I know there are millions of people out there with a double first names, but I find myself having a hard time conveying that message. Both names are equally as important to me for different reasons (and of course people, Grandma!). So tell me, how do I get across that her name is BellaRose and not just Bella?

that is cool, april is still a great time and you even maybe able to meet Ellen! okay i maybe not getting it but who is Mary Elizabeth? I know i am probably going to feel very silly for asking that once you tell me :)

I would just follow up the comment with a casual statement like, "Yeah, BellaRose is such a sweet little lady." That way, you re-emphasize the real name without having to point it out directly. You may have to do this several times in the whole conversation. You can even add in that you decided not to have a middle name for her.

I can't believe she's already 8 months! Such pretty girlies!!

ohhh Shanna is SO smart!

That is brilliant my friend....do itSun!

Mary elizabeth is just an example of a 2 name first name...silly!

I KNOW!!!! come on baby Ellen!!!

I must admit that sounds like a hard task.. but there are lots of kids with two names.. so just keep saying BellaRose and one day (hopefull) it will stick.. but with people like your Grandma she may always call her Bella.. = (

I'm excited too.. because on Saturday, I can get some pics of you with BellaRose if you wish as well.. and then you'll have a few more to share! = )

See you soon!

I just read the comments.. and I do know a Mary Elizabeth.. and a Abbie Kate.. and Mary Rae.. a Mary Ann..

Why not just say.. it's one word BellaRose.. not Bella Rose. And maybe after a while they'll get it.. but hey, it took me a year to realize that my friend's daughter was Abbie Kate and not Abby Kate..

thanks everyone. Sorry i think that I did not make sense on the post. grandma calls her BellaRose, espcially b/c the Rose part is her!

Oh Jessica that would be cool if you could meet Ellen! then we could have a reenactment of the blog girls photo from after BellaRose was born!
I can't believe she is 8 months. I think you should say, her first name is BellaRose, or just say BellaRose all one word, but just say it with a smile no one will thing you are being rude. We should get good ol Mary Carol to tell us what she thinks...

My gramma calls me Susan. Not even close.

She's beautiful, whatever her name is :) Happy 8 months...

I also think BellaRose is a beautiful name, course I am partial to the Rose part. Just want until the boys get to meet her, her beauty and name. Worth needs to start practicing intimidation soon....

Glad his hand is better.

Hey, I'd just keep introducing her as BellaRose and if someone says something like "oh i love the name bella" say something back along the lines of "we love the name BellaROSE too...it has a very special meaning". You dont have to correct anyone but keep saying bellaROSE!

A lot will be solved when she can speak for herself and say, (and believe me, she will)"My name is BellaRose." My sister's name is Kathryn and many times people would just call her "Kathy" adn she just tells them it isn't her name. Personally, I love th ename BellaRose. Suits her perfectly. You can always just say, "We call her BellaRose."

Being a double-namer myself, I am completely empathetic. I had teachers and acquaintances my whole life who called me "Mary" and I HATED it!! It showed that they didn't really know me. Now I've gone and ruined the whole thing by sticking with initials for so long. I'm actually trying to get back to Mary Carol.

Advice? Just be frank. Yes, smile and say, "BellaRose. One word." I kinda wish my parents had made it all one word like you did. It would alleviate that whole middle name dilemma that has followed me around. I love the name BellaRose and I love a lot of double names. I've never been particularly fond of mine, but what can you do?

She is BEAUTIFUL by the way. Growing so fast!

I agree, she is an ADORABLE, precious baby! I say maybe just make a point, when you introduce your daughter to say - "One word, BellaRose, one word." Be strong about it. You named her that way for a reason, and people need to know it! But, do keep in mind that people even shorten one word first names, like April is "Apes", Michael is "Mike", etc...not sure why folks have such a fixation on nicknames - but, alas, such is life. With that said, I love the name you picked for your sweet baby. It seems to fit her SO well! :)

Shanna's got it, I think that's wise.
Watch Bella Rose grow up and want to be called BR or something, that would be just like a girl, wouldn't it?
Will and I better get in on the all girl visit with rylie and Jessica when they come. It's not a no boys visit is it?
