Accountability Friday

Ok, I have been thinking, again! No, no, don't worry, this will not be another long winded, refective fueled blog. I have been thinking about goals, and things that I would like to accomplish. Not New Years resolutions! I don't do those, they only lead to disappointment. I am just talking goals, that can be completed whenever I feel like. They don't have to be done at a certain time when the clock stricks 12 or anything. So here goes.......

1. I would like to find a workout that involves BellaRose. I don't want to join the gym b/c it is too expensive, and I would have to pay for childcare. Plus the weather will be getting nice soon and I would love to be outside. This leads me to running! Ah, I hate to run. I just don't think it is any fun, but who knows maybe I will have a different perspective on it now. I am not sure if the Atlanta girls remember my brief stint on The Lovett track team. They may not because it lasted 2 weeks. Thats right 2 whole weeks, and they were probably the worst 2 weeks of my high school life. I remember the coach telling us to do a mile warm up. A mile warm up, who does that for a warm up!!?? Oh man I was doomed from the start. One of my friends thought that I looked like the water girl chasing the track team, that is how far back I was. So needless to say running is not my forte, as I learned yesterday, AGAIN! I borrowed Annie's B.O.B stroller and took BellaRose on a run. I would call it a run, some might call it a fast walk. Anyway, I ran.....some and walked more. I think that I will get better at least I hope I will get better. So this is where you come in, just ask me about how running is going every once in awhile. Hold me accountable. I know this is a big deal posting it on the blog, and one day I may tell you to cut it out, but until then ask away. Now I need to find a jogger stroller. If you know of a cheap one, or a place I can get one for not a lot, that would be great! I don't need the B.O.B, b/c I am just not that serious, but I do need a jogger.

2. This whole cake thing I talked about the other day. I am pretty serious and pretty excited about it too. Who knows maybe one day I will have my own cake/bread book (those 2 things go together right?). I got this book yesterday in the mail, The Whimsical Bakehouse . It is awesome, well so far it is awesome. The website is cool too. So I need your help in trying out cake. I am going to be making lots of practice cakes, to get to the perfect cake. I am going to need eaters. You just come, or I will bring it to you. That is all you need is you, and I will bring the rest.

So accountability Friday is not so bad, huh? You ask me about running and eat the cake I make!

Oh, I am soooo on that (like white on rice, or should I say icing on cake)...the cake eating thing! I will probably need to take up running too, if I eat a lot of your yummy cake!
Well, I am excited for you as you seek out things that bring you joy, other than, of course, your precious little girl. We all, especially as moms, need somethings that are OURS to delight in, to pour into, and labor for. I think it is healthy for us to not rely on our children to fulfill us, but instead take them on the journey with us so that they see someone passionate about life, not just about them (which we are deeply!) I can't wait to see these beautiful cakes...maybe one day we can all make a business together, us "moms" looking for creative outlets...that is my dream

this is random but I wonder if places like play-it-again sports would have jogging strollers? Also I hear that they are having the huge twice a year childrens' sale at the agricultural center across from the airport soon, I can find out what day, I'm not really good at shopping for baby stuff so far my only method of this has been to register:) I could register for one for you ha!
I will help out with the cake though, you can count on me and Ellen to show up for a piece each and maybe even come help decorate with icing!

Sunday, you are so fun! I really like reading your blogs. And I SO feel you on the running. I have never liked it, but sorta hear something tell me to give it another honest try. From what I understand from other friends who run, if you sitck it out long enough and push through - it becomes a 'high'- and something you look forward to. Believe me....right now, from where I stand, that seems impossible...but apparently it happens! About the stroller - have you considered looking on both craigslist.com & freecycle.com for the Asheville area?

Running is something I think ANYONE can do.. trust me.. If I can... YOU CAN TOO! I didn't completely enjoy it in the beginning.. but I must admit, I really look forward to it now. I started out small too.. doing a walk/run routine.. I'd do a fast/brisk walk for 5 minutes.. then run at a comfortable speed (where you can carry on a conversation) for 2 mins.. then repeat. Then as the weeks past I would walk less and run more. Now for fun I'll walk a minute and then run for 5 mins.. and each time I run I try to run faster.. then after I sprint as fast as I can, I come back down. For example: if you were on a tredmill.. walk 4.0 (1 min) run 5.0 (5 mins) walk 4.0 (1 min) run 5.5 (5) walk (1) run 6.0 (5) walk (1) run 6.5 (5) walk (1) run 7.0. .. then do this backwards.. you get the idea I'm sure.. but the interval training helps alot then on other days you can run the whole 30 mins stright. Though I do think running pushing a stroller would be different.. (something I haven't tried) but talk about getting strength training in for your arms at the same time! Mulit-tasking bonus!

Also.. the cakes.. I must admit, I too share this desire. I actually got square cake pans for Christmas so I could make some square (wedding style) cakes. You could make one for Becky's shower!! Have you ever seen Ace Of Cakes on the Food Network.. you would really enjoy it.. they make some awesome cakes!

Maybe we can share tips too!

Yay! The Whimsical Bakehouse has been on my wishlist for when I get back into cakes, mostly because of the amazing technique with the candy melts--the butterflies? OMG love them--so I'm so excited to see that's what you ordered, and I can't wait to see your first test cake! I will be most happy to help out with any cake advice I can, just holler!

The play-it-again sports in our area ALWAYS has tons of joggers, and they're in really great shape. Perhaps if there are none in Asheville, you can come here and get one (and maybe bring a cake too!)

I hate running with a very intense passion, but it is indeed a wonderful goal. I'm a big fan of speed walking with a stroller with occasional sprints thrown in for "fun." Good luck!!

I am the bad mom who hates to run. With or without child. Running is dumb. Running makes me feel dumb... and possibly look dumber.

There are stroller-mom classes that walk around malls, parks, neighborhoods, gyms (with AND without memberships).

I strap Rylie down to a sled christmas tree style and drag her through the snow. Is that illegal?

the BOB stroller is awesome! I have the single and double (unfortunately they dont manufacture a triple or i'd get it!). I highly recommend it. You may be able to find one on craigslist or online on sale. good for you and your running...i do remember you in track...do you remember me- you couldn't have missed me...oh wait you could because i was about 50 ft behind everyone in the 100 yrd dash.

Wow…cake baking sounds like a great thing to get into. I wish I lived closer I would gladly come over and be a taste tester.

You should go to realwomensfitness.com. They have great ideas and workouts they even have a group you can join that helps hold you accountable. It stinks when you first start running but I am always odly proud of myself after I run...

MISS YOU!!!

You are so funny, you always make me laugh when you talk about running, it's so refreshing because I feel like people are always talking about how they love this excersize or that, I realize I'm included in that arena. But, you, there are no bars up, I love it Sunday, you've always been like that and it's awesome.
You will find what you can do, I agree with Jessica, speed walking is actually better than running for women, they say it builds all the "right" muscles without the bulk. And........we can do it together sometimes. IT will be fun. I've always wanted to have a stroller patrol group that parades through town. It would be hilarious, I bet we could get in the Black Mountain News.
Ok, Ok enough joking.
Seriously.
I want to come eat cake.
