Whimsy

First lets begin with the bread. The wonderful, easy bread. This round did not come out as well as the first one. I tried to go all organic this time and I am not sure that the yeast was good (please no yeast jokes :)). It never bubbled after sitting there for at least 18 hours. Any suggestions on this one? It still came out beautiful and it was good, just not as light as the first one. To answer some of the concerns about the bread, it is intimidating reading the recipe. It took me many, MANY months to make the recipe. I was nervous about the wait time, but you just have to dig in and make it happen. I just wiped it together before dinner and then forgot about it until the next day, no problem. I am an instant gratification kind of girl, but making this bread, I love!

Oh, you ask yourself why is there a picture of a perfectly whimsical cake? Well let me tell you dear reader and friend. That is the cake, or a version of the cake, that I will be making dear sweet BellaRose for her 1st birthday come May 22. It is my goal. I am determined. I am searching out cake baking classes to take, and I have ordered a book. Now I know that she will never really know that I made her this cake except in pictures, and I know she will never really even eat it, but comepletley destroyit, but don't you see the beauty in that. It is exactly what you are supposed to do on your first birthday. Sure she will have a sugar overdose, but what the heck, you only turn 1 once. Carpe Diem!!

BellaRose was sitting on the guest room bed yesterday while I, of course, was on the computer. Worth's guitar was on the bed too, and BellaRose worked so hard to get to the guitar. She loves music so much. She is always beating on the things, and singing. She just started strumming away on the guitar. I got some real cool pictures. I was showing Worth the pictures, asking him if he thought that they were good. He says, well you left the pick in the strings, she won't be able to hear how it sounds. I like the pictures, the artistic side of them and he sees a pick in the strings. Oh well what can you do?
And finally, our beloved sippy cup. I got BellaRose a sippy cup because she always seems so interested in my water. She LOVES her sippy. She sees it and those legs start a flappin'. She likes to lounge with it, of course she likes to lounge anywhere. If she is eating, there is always a foot up on the tray. She might not really "get" how to drink from the cup though as you can tell from the middle picture.
Thanks for joining me today, I know it is a lot to take in for a thursdsay morning, but you sure have been a good reader. Talk at you later.

What a fun post, and so many great topics! That cake is out of this world and I loved the guitar pictures with sweet baby. Speaking of Bella Rose, check out this listing on etsy. I browse on there all the time...and came across this cute hat this morning. Check out the name (sooo close)! The Cinnamon Chocolate version of this style is very cute, too. Thought you would like to see em...

Oh, Sunday, I have every confidence that you can produce that cake! When I took cake classes a year or so ago I just did it through Michaels, but if you got a good book you may not even need that--though I would recommend learning to make Marshmallow fondant instead of using the pre-packaged stuff--even with the addition of flavored oils I've never been able to get that stuff to taste good! I can't wait to see how it turns out!!

glad to see that the bread didn't just keep rising and take over your house yesterday while you were over here! Phew! :)
I am SOO impressed that you are going to make that cake, that is AMAZING, i feel that BellaRose is going to have a cool Martha stewart mom! I'm just glad Ellen will get to go to her birthday parties, she will come home and say, why can't YOU make cool cakes like BellaRose's mom? And I will say Ellen, because your mom is a retard in the kitchen and BellaRose's mom is not! haha

Oh and I really like the guitar pictures I was trying to think of who plays the slide guitar in their lap like that, I think Ben Harper does?

duh Becky, Seth kauffman plays the slide guitar! That is so funny that conversation between you and Ellen. BellaRose will come home a lot from playing at your house and tell me lots of things like, "Ellen's mom sings, and paints, and plays the guitar, and you don't do any of that!". becky you and i can just drink a lot of wine :)
jessica, i don't have a pack-n-play but i can get one for. my mother-in-law got one for BellaRose for their house here and i am sure you can use it while you are here.

Who is this Seth Kauffman you speak of??? :) just kidding
I like the wine idea, I think it is your B.I.E. (best idea ever)
then the dialogue will go something like this...Mom why don't you ever trip over stuff and fall on the floor like BellaRose's mom does?
And I will answer, honey, BellaRose's mom has a drinking problem. :)

Sunday.. the bread looks amazingly yummy. I do want to try and make it.. but I'm stalling.. I don't have the right pot to put it in so I may need to do some shopping (and who doesn't like to shop!)

I do like the pictures with the guitar.. very artsy indeed. And BellaRose's cake looks like something from Ace of Cakes on Food Network.. and I love his cakes! Learning how to make that cake and the classes sound like so much fun.. I must admit.. I'm super jealous!

Oh my gosh.. I just read Becky's commentary.. and can you say hilarious!! I agree with both Sunday and Becky.. BellaRose has the I can bake anything with one hand behind my back Martha Stewart mom.. and Ellen will have the singing, guitar playing painter mom.. both win because they'll have the each of you to "learn" from! How cool is that!
